Lyricist Pro

Privacy Policy

Effective October 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information Lyricist Pro collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Lyricist Pro is built to keep your creative work under your control: your lyrics and audio stay on your device unless you choose to sync, back up, or use an online feature.

Introduction

Lyricist Pro ("we", "us") provides songwriting tools across web, desktop, and mobile. This policy applies to all three. If you have questions, contact us at privacy@lyricistpro.com.

Information We Collect

Account information — when you create an account we store your email address, a securely hashed password, and, if you sign in with Google or Facebook, the basic profile information those services return.

Your content — songs, lyrics, chord progressions, song details (title, BPM, key, genre, tags), version history, projects, saved Word Bank entries, and any voice-note recordings you choose to save to your account.

Subscription and payment information — your plan, subscription status, and billing identifiers. Card and payment details are handled directly by our payment processor, Stripe; we never receive or store your full card number.

Usage metadata — when you use AI features we record which feature you used, the AI model, and the number of tokens consumed, so we can enforce plan limits. We do not store the AI prompt or response text as part of this record.

Technical data — like any online service, our servers process standard request information (such as IP address and timestamps) to operate the service securely. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

How Your Content Is Processed (Local-First)

Lyricist Pro is local-first. Voice-note transcription runs entirely on your device using an on-device speech model — your audio is not uploaded to us or to any third party for transcription.

Your lyrics and recordings stay on your device unless you sign in and choose to save them to your account, enable cloud backup, or use an online feature that needs to send content to a third-party service (described below).

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of third-party services, and share data with them only as needed to provide the feature you are using:

  • OpenAI — when you use AI Assist features (line suggestions, section or full-song generation, feedback, chat, rhyme or metaphor help, translation, or transcribing lyrics from a photo), the relevant text or image is sent to OpenAI to generate a response. Please do not include information you consider confidential in AI features.
  • Datamuse — when a word is not found in the built-in dictionary, that word may be sent to the Datamuse API to look up rhymes or definitions.
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments and handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
  • Cloud storage providers — if you enable cloud backup, your backups are stored with the provider you connect (such as Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, or iCloud) using the access you authorize.
  • Sign-in providers — if you sign in with Google or Facebook, they authenticate you and return basic profile information.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the app and its features.
  • To sync and back up your songs across your devices when you enable it.
  • To process subscriptions, payments, and plan limits.
  • To respond to feedback and support requests you send us.
  • To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your lyrics to train our own models.

Data Storage and Retention

Content saved to your account is kept until you delete it. Deleting a song or project moves it to Recently Deleted, from where it is permanently removed after the retention period you choose in Settings, or when you delete it permanently.

If you close your account, we delete the personal data associated with it, except where we must keep limited records (for example, transaction records) to meet legal or accounting obligations.

Your Rights and Choices

  • Access and export — you can view and export your songs from within the app.
  • Correction and deletion — you can edit or delete your content at any time, and request deletion of your account.
  • Feature choices — AI features, cloud backup, and online lookups are optional; you can leave them off to keep your work fully on-device.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@lyricistpro.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your Lyricist Pro account and its data yourself, at any time, in any of these ways:

  • In the mobile app — open the Settings tab, scroll to Account, and tap Delete Account.
  • On the web — sign in at app.lyricistpro.com, open Settings → Account, and choose Delete Account under Danger Zone.
  • By email — write to privacy@lyricistpro.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm the request and complete it within 30 days.

In the app you will be asked to confirm with your password (or, if you signed in with Google or Facebook, to confirm explicitly). Any active subscription is cancelled first, so you will not be billed again.

Deleting your account permanently removes your account details, songs, lyrics, version history, projects, Word Bank entries, voice notes saved to your account, authorship timestamps, subscription and payment records, and AI usage records. It cannot be undone, so export anything you want to keep first.

What we keep: feedback messages you sent us are kept with your account details removed. Our payment processor, Stripe, keeps its own transaction records as the law requires. Copies of deleted data may remain in encrypted backups and server logs for up to 30 days before they are overwritten.

Songs and recordings stored only on your device are removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data. To delete some of your data without closing your account, delete individual songs, projects, recordings, or Word Bank entries in the app; deleted items stay in Recently Deleted for the retention period you choose, or until you remove them permanently.

Children's Privacy

Lyricist Pro is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
